Diversity / Lottery
The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program, commonly known as the green card lottery, makes up to 50,000 immigrant visas available annually through a random selection process. Applicants must be from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States and meet education or work experience requirements. Winners are selected randomly and must complete visa processing within the fiscal year. The program aims to diversify the immigrant population.
